Straight answers.

Is it private? Where is my data stored?

100% local. TradeJournal runs in Docker on your machine/VPS and stores data in a local JSON/SQLite file. No cloud, no tracking, no exchange API keys. You can backup the file or volume and move it anywhere — ./data is all you need.

Which exchanges are supported?

MEXC futures today — just export .xlsx from Futures → History. Binance and Bybit parsers are next (same drag & drop). The importer is plug-in based, so adding a new export takes minutes. Ask in Telegram if you need another exchange.

Do I need API keys?

No. Never. You export the .xlsx manually and drop it in. That’s intentionally safer — no read keys, no permissions, no risk of leaking secrets. Your P&L and fees are parsed locally from the file.

How do I backup or move my journal?

In the app: Settings → Export JSON. Or copy the Docker volume tradejournal_data / ./data folder. To restore, import the JSON or mount the folder on a new host — same UI, same stats. We keep the format open so you always own your trades.

Is it really free? What’s the catch?

Free if you self-host — docker compose up and it’s yours. No paywall on analytics (91 positions, PF, WR, calendar, everything). Pro later will be a hosted/cloud option for teams who don’t want to run Docker. Solo traders never need it.
